Florya Gates | Florya City | Erbil

Florya Gates | Florya City | Residential | 2015 | Erbil | Private | Under Construction
Description:
One of the most ambitious land-development and construction projects is taking place in the desert near Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan region in Iraq. The project concerns Floria City that is still under construction, but the rendering above can give you an idea of how the finished residential compound will look like. Erbil construction projects are increasing with more construction companies taking part in this immensely booming economy. Floria City was designed to be an oasis where buildings seem to grow from the ground just like the palm trees, the plants, the flowers and the lush greenery which will adorn the city. The project started in September 2011 and is expected to finish by 2016. This is a private investment project which is constructed by RAD Company and the cost is estimated to approximately half a billion dollars. The area is divided into four different parts that were named after some of the most beautiful indigenous flowers: the Nergis Plaza, the Mercan Plaza, the Rose Garden and the Papatya Field. • The Nergis Plaza extends over an area of 183.000m2 and contains 71 buildings with 518 apartments in total. Here you can find two types of apartment villas, as well as Nergis Tower apartments. • The Rose Garden is the most luxurious part of the city as it contains 5 palaces of 2000m2 each, 9 palaces of 1200m2, 13 palaces of 1000m2 and 15 apartment-villa buildings. In the area there are also 15 10-floor residential towers with 600 apartments in total. • The Papatya Field is opposite the Rose Garden area and is the part of the city which contains 57 towers over an area of 159000m2. The apartments here promise an excellent view of the whole city and residents on the upper floors will be able to admire the whole city of Erbil. The total number of apartments in the area is 2154. • The Mercan area is located in the centre of the City and it features an 11,095m2 Hotel, a Spa for women, a Police Station, a Fire Station, a Clinic, and the Shopping Center of the City which covers an area of 65.781m2. For those interested in combining their office and residence in one, the Mercan area features several types of Home Office arrangements to choose from. Special Features Erbil Construction – Floria City offers everything a modern city can offer – from shopping, entertainment and an international restaurant to health and fitness clubs and from several game halls to facilities for the most popular sports, such as basketball, volleyball and tennis. At the same time, everyone can have excellent health care services at the modern infirmary of the city while children can spend their time in the most creative way at the Kid’s Club or have fun at the Children’s Park. As for parking, there are thousands of underground parking spaces for residents, private garages, and hundreds of surface parking spaces for both residents and visitors.

Description:
Iraq’s Kayar Group and Jawaharat Alrawabi companies signed a $249 million contract to build 3,827 housing units in the southern region of Diwaniya, said, Ahmed Hisham, president of the Diwaniya Investment Commission. “We are also styuding designs for other companies to build 15,000 residential units,” Hisham said in a telephone interview today. “Some of these companies are from the UAE, Italy, Brazil and Iraq.” The project will be built within three years to the south of Diwaniya city and the province will need 100,000 residential units by 2015, he said. Iraq, which holds the world’s fifth-largest oil reserves, is seeking foreign investment to help rebuild an economy and infrastructure damaged by years of conflict, sanctions and underinvestment. In March 2010, the government approved plans to build 1 million apartments by 2014 for lower- and middle-income families to help a housing shortage.

Description:
Erbil, known as Hewlêr , is the largest city and capital of the Kurdistan Region in Iraq. It is located 88 kilometres (55 miles) east of Mosul and has a permanent population of approximately 1.5 million as of 2013. Urban life at Erbil (Hewlêr) can be dated back to at least 6000 BC, and it is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. At the heart of the city is the ancient Citadel of Arbil. In the early part of the 3rd millennium BC, the Hurrians from Asia Minor were the first to establish Urbilum and expand their rule to parts of northern Mesopotamia. The city became an integral part of Assyria from the 25th century BC to the 7th century BC, but after it lost its independence at the end of the 7th century BC, both Assyria and the city of Erbil were under the rule of many regional powers in turn, including the Babylonians, the Medes, the Persians and Greeks. Following the Arab Islamic conquest of Mesopotamia, the Arabs dissolved Assyria (then known as Assuristan/Athura) as a geo-political entity in the mid-7th century AD, and during medieval times the city came to be ruled by the Seljuk and Ottoman Turks. Erbil’s archaeological museum houses a large collection of pre-Islamic artifacts, and is a center for archaeological projects in the area.

Description:
Mosul is a city of over a million people in northern Iraq, some 400 km north of Baghdad. It is currently the largest city controlled by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. The original city stands on the west bank of the Tigris River, opposite the ancient Assyriancity of Nineveh on the east bank, but the metropolitan area has now grown to encompass substantial areas on both banks. In the early 21st century, the majority of its population was Arab, with Assyrian Christian, Iraqi Turkmen and Kurdish minorities. The city’s population grew rapidly around the turn of the millennium and by 2008 was estimated to be 1,800,000.Although half a million fled in 2014 it was still over a million that year. With the 2014 ISIL occupation, only Sunni Arabs remained in the city. The fabric muslin, long manufactured here, is named after this city.Another historically important product of the area is Mosul marble. People from Mosul are called Maslawis. The city of Mosul was home to the University of Mosul, which was one of the largest educational and research centers in Iraq and the Middle East. Until 2014 the city was a historic center for the Nestorian Christianity of the Assyrians, containing the tombs of several Old Testament prophets such as Jonah. In June 2014, the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant took over the city during the 2014 Northern Iraq offensive. As of August 2014, the city’s new ISIL administration is functional, but power cuts are frequent.

Description:
Kirkuk is a Kurdish city 236 kilometres (147 mi) north of Baghdad, and 83 kilometres (52 miles) south of Erbil. It is the capital of Kirkuk Governorate. Kirkuk lies in a wide zone with an enormously diverse population, which has moreover experienced dramatic demographic changes in the course of the twentieth century. The city has been multilingual for centuries, and the development of distinct ethnic groups was a process that took place over the course of Kirkuk’s urbanization in the twentieth century.Kurds, Turkmen, Assyrians and Arabs lay conflicting claims to this zone, and all have their historical accounts and memories to buttress their claims. The city sits on the site of the ancient Hurrian southern capital of Arrapha, which sits near the Khasa River on the ruins of a 5,000-year-old settlement (Kirkuk Citadel). It became known as Arrapha under the domination of the Hurrians—pre-Aryan peoples. The city reached great importance again under the later, but short-lived Assyrians in the 10th and 11th centuries BC. Because of the strategic geographical location of the city, Kirkuk was the battle ground for three empires—the Neo-Assyrian Empire, Babylonia, and Media—which controlled the city at various times.
